FIFA U-17 World Cup 2019 came to a closure with hosts Brazil winning the competition in a dramatic fashion against Mexico. The match ended 2-1 with Brazil fighting a late comeback after Mexico’s Bryan Gonzalez scored on the 66th minute. Kaio George’s penalty 18 minutes later gave Brazil a lifeline, which was then assured by super sub Lazaro’s strike three minutes into the final stoppage time.
For the third-place, France bullied neighbours Netherlands 3-1 thanks to a superb hattrick by Arnaud Kalimuendo-Muinga.
With their fourth U-17 World Cup, Brazil is just one behind cup leaders Nigeria. This victory will surely give a boost to the South American contingent with loads of promising players coming through the youth ranks.
