Quess East Bengal met Chennai City at Coimbatore on Saturday evening and came out victorious with a 2-0 margin after narrowly losing against their arch rivals Mohun Bagan in the Kolkata Derby and after their head coach Alejandro Menéndez García got sacked.

After a boring start to the match, Quess East Bengal got a lucky penalty in the 15th minute when the ball struck  Pravitto Raju’s hand, but Jaime Santos Colado failed to beat the Chennai’s Goal Keeper Nauset Santana.

In the 68th minute, the spanish duo of Mera & Santos linked between themselves brilliantly and  Marcos de la Espada scored Quess East Bengal’s first goal.

In the 77th minute were again awarded a penalty for Jishnu Balakrishnan’s challenge inside the box on Santos. Jaime Santos Colado did not make a mistake this time and fired in the shot from the spot for their second goal.

With this win, Quess East Bengal are now 4th in the points ladder with 11 points from 8 matches.
